Kr itische Theorie kritisiert den Antisemitismus in dessen Verwobenheit mit a nderen Aspekten der modernen kapitalistischen Gesellschaft\, die wiederum von traditionellen Theorien oft unhinterfragt gelassen oder nur beiläufig zum Gegenstand der Kritik gemacht werden. Dies betrifft unter anderem Fra gen von Identität\,  Nation\, Rassismus und  Sexualität. Die Aufsätze des Bandes untersuchen die antisemitismuskritischen Texte der Frankfurter Schule und legen dabei die Verbindungen zu anderen virulenten gesellschaf tlichen Fragen offen\, wie etwa zum Rassismus im weiteren Sinne\, dem Patr iarchat\, dem Staat sowie den Dynamiken der sich stets verändernden kapit alistischen Produktionsweise.\nUm auch praktisch Wirkung zu entfalten\, br ingt er interdisziplinär arbeitende Wissenschatler:innen und Aktivist:inn en zusammen\, die die kritische Theorie nutzen\, um rechte wie linke Forme n des Antisemitismus zu analysieren. Diese entwickeln in ihrer Antisemitis muskritik auch eine Kritik des Kapitalismus\, indem sie fragen: Warum sche int die kapitalistische Gesellschaft stets Antisemitismus zu produzieren? Und wie können wir dem begegnen?\nIn einer Zeit\, in der der Populismus i nternational neue Spielarten des Antisemitismus hervorgebracht hat\, stell t der Band eine wichtige Ressource dar\, um die ungebrochene Relevanz der kritischen Theorie der Frankfurter Schule für den Kampf gegen Antisemitis mus heute aufzuzeigen.\nBei der Veranstaltung werden die Hauptthemen des k ürzlich erschienenen Sammelbandes Critical Theory and the Critique of Ant isemitism. London: Bloomsbury 2023 vorgestellt und diskutiert. Vier Autor: innen\, darunter der Herausgeber sowie der Herausgeber der Reihe Critical Theory and the Critique of Society\, in der Band publiziert wurde\, werden in je fünfzehnminütigen Beiträgen ihr Hauptargument sowie der Argument e des gesamten Buches vorstellen. Amongst oth ers\, these include issues of identity\, nation\, race\, and sexuality. In exploring the Frankfurt School's writings on antisemitism therefore\, the chapters in this book reveal connections to other pressing societal issue s\, such as racism more broadly\, patriarchy\, statism\, and the societal dynamics of the ever-evolving capitalist mode of production.Putting the th eory to practice\, this volume brings together interdisciplinary scholars and activists who employ critical theory to scrutinise right- and left-win g manifestations of antisemitism. They develop\, in their critique of anti semitism\, a critique of capitalism\, as the authors ask: why does modern capitalist society seem bound to produce antisemitism? And how do we chall enge it?At a time when the rise of populism internationally has brought wi th it new strains of antisemitism\, this is an essential resource that dem onstrates the continuing relevance of the critical theory of the Frankfurt School for the struggle against antisemitism today.The event will introdu ce main themes from the recently published edited volume Critical Theory a nd the Critique of Antisemitism.
